OpenAssistant has its own file storage where your assistant can save files it creates and access files you provide. This gives your assistant a persistent workspace for working with documents, images, spreadsheets, presentations, PDFs, and more.
You can access your files anytime from the Files section of your OpenAssistant dashboard:
Each user has 4 GB of file storage available.
Files your assistant creates
Whenever your assistant creates a file for you, it can save that file to your Files.
For example, if you ask your assistant to create a presentation, spreadsheet, PDF, document, or image, the finished file can be stored here so you can access it again later. From Files, you can:
View your files
Download files
Delete files
Organize files into folders
Search for files
Share files with members of your OpenAssistant team
Upload your own files
You can also upload files directly to OpenAssistant for your assistant to work with.
Once uploaded, your assistant can use those files as part of your requests.
Depending on the file and task, you can ask your assistant to do things like analyze its contents, edit or modify it, create a new version, extract information, or send the file to someone.
OpenAssistant supports many common file types, including:
Documents
PDFs
Spreadsheets
Presentations
Images
And more
This means you can give your assistant the materials it needs to complete a task without having to provide the same information every time.
Add instructions and memories to files
You can add instructions or memories to individual files.
When your assistant works with that file, it will receive those instructions along with it. This is useful for providing context about how a file should be used or anything your assistant should remember when working with it.
For example, you might add an instruction explaining what a document is for, how a spreadsheet should be updated, or important context your assistant should know before using the file.
Organize your assistant's files
Files can be organized into folders to make them easier to manage and find later. You can also search your files directly from the Files section.
Think of Files as your assistant's workspace: a place where it can keep the materials you give it, save the things it creates, and access them again when you need them.
