You can add instructions or memories to any file in OpenAssistant. These are provided to your assistant whenever it works with that file, giving it additional context about what the file is and how you want it used.
Add instructions to a file
Go to Files and click the file you want to add instructions to.
You'll see a preview of the file. Click the Instructions tab.
Type your instructions in natural language.
Click Save.
Your assistant will now have those instructions available whenever it works with that file.
What kind of instructions can I add?
You can use instructions to give your assistant context, preferences, or rules specific to a file.
For example:
"This is our current pricing sheet. Use these prices whenever you're creating a proposal."
"This is our company presentation template. Use it as the starting point when I ask you to create a presentation."
"This spreadsheet contains our current customer list. Don't modify the original unless I specifically ask you to."
"This is our latest brand guide. Follow these guidelines when creating marketing materials."
"This is the standard contract we send to new customers. Use it as the template when I ask you to prepare a new agreement."
"This document contains background information about our company. Use it as context when writing about us."
Instructions can be as simple or detailed as you'd like. Just describe what your assistant should know about the file or how you want it to use it.
