OpenAssistant billing is subscription-based, with pricing and features that vary by plan. Here's how it works.
Plans & Pricing
See the Pricing page for current plan names, prices, and what each tier includes — this is the one place we keep it accurate as plans change.
How Billing Works
Seat-Based Billing
Team billing is handled per organization and is seat-based — you pay for the number of users (seats) on your team, on top of your plan's usage allowance.
Team admins manage seat count by inviting or removing team members.
Billing for a seat typically starts as soon as a team member is invited — even if they haven't yet accepted the invite.
Adding or Removing Team Members
When adding a member:
A new seat is billed as soon as the invite is sent.
If added mid-cycle, the charge is prorated for the remainder of the billing period.
When removing a member:
You retain access to that seat for the rest of the current billing cycle — no refunds are issued for the unused portion.
You can assign that seat to another user at no additional cost during the cycle.
Changing Plans or Cancelling
Downgrades or Cancellations:
Changes take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
You'll retain access to your current plan until the period ends — no refunds for downgrades or cancellations.
Mid-Cycle Seat Changes
If you add seats mid-cycle, they're charged immediately and prorated for the remainder of the current billing period.
Your team's billing cycle date doesn't change.
FAQs
Can I move a seat to another user?
Yes — if you remove a user, that seat is still paid for the current cycle and can be reassigned to another team member at no extra charge.
What happens if I downgrade my plan?
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You'll continue to have access to your current tier until then.
Do you prorate mid-cycle additions?
Yes — when you add a new seat mid-cycle, it's charged immediately on a prorated basis.
Where do I see my exact plan, credits, and invoices?
