Connections allow your OpenAssistant assistant to access and interact with the tools and services you already use.
Once connected, your assistant can use information from those services, take actions, complete workflows, and answer questions using data from your connected platforms.

How Connections Work
Connections extend what your assistant can do. For example, connecting your calendar allows your assistant to check your availability and schedule meetings. Connecting a CRM can allow it to look up customer information or update records. Connecting a project management tool can allow it to review projects, create tasks, and track work.
Instead of navigating between applications yourself, you can ask your assistant what you want accomplished and it can work across the services you've authorized.
Connections do not automatically give your assistant unrestricted access to a service. What it can access and do depends on the account you've connected, the permissions you've granted, and your OpenAssistant settings.
Core Connections
Calendar
Calendar read and write permissions are required for scheduling.
These permissions allow your assistant to:
Check your availability
View calendar events
Identify scheduling conflicts
Create new events
Update existing events
Coordinate meetings on your behalf
During onboarding, you'll be prompted to connect a calendar and grant the permissions required for scheduling.
Contacts
We strongly recommend connecting your contacts. Contact access helps your assistant:
Identify people when you make a request
Find contact information when scheduling meetings
Understand relationships and previous interactions
Save relevant memories about contacts
Inbox access is optional. You can grant inbox permissions when you want your assistant to work more broadly with your email, such as reviewing conversations, finding messages, drafting replies, or helping organize your inbox.
Without inbox access, your assistant can still work with email conversations where it is explicitly included. For more information, see How OpenAssistant Works with Email.
Additional Emails and Calendars
You can connect additional supported Google, Microsoft, or Apple email and calendar accounts. This is useful if you:
Use multiple calendars
Want your assistant to check conflicts across work and personal calendars
Have multiple email addresses you use to communicate with your assistant
Need your assistant to work across more than one account
You can manage which calendars are used for availability and scheduling from your OpenAssistant settings.
Video Conferencing
OpenAssistant can use your preferred video conferencing service when creating meetings.
If you use Zoom, connect your Zoom account and select Zoom as your preferred video conferencing option in your calendar settings. Your assistant can then include your Zoom meeting information when creating invitations.
Otherwise, your assistant can use the conferencing option associated with your connected calendar, such as Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, where available.
Third-Party Integrations
OpenAssistant can connect with a growing collection of third-party applications and services.
Available integrations include:
Asana
Attio
AWS
Box
Coding
Dropbox
GitHub
Granola
Google Maps
Gusto
HubSpot
Linear
Monday
Notion
Salesforce
Slack
Stripe
Superhuman
Zapier
The available integration catalog will continue to expand. Check the Connections page in OpenAssistant for the latest available services.
What Can You Do with Connections?
Different connections give your assistant different capabilities. You can also combine multiple connections within the same task or workflow.
Meeting Notes and Summaries
Using supported meeting-note services such as Granola, your assistant can:
Review meeting notes
Extract action items
Summarize discussions
Identify follow-ups
Generate meeting recaps
Example:
Review my meeting notes from yesterday and create a list of action items.
Product and Engineering
Using tools such as GitHub and Linear, your assistant can:
Review development activity
Analyze issues and bugs
Create or update tasks
Summarize project progress
Work with coding tools
Example:
Summarize everything that changed in GitHub this week and highlight anything that needs my attention.
CRM and Revenue Operations
Using services such as Salesforce, Attio, and Stripe, your assistant can:
Review accounts and opportunities
Summarize customer activity
Generate sales reports
Review payments and subscriptions
Analyze revenue information
Example:
Show me our largest open opportunities and summarize recent activity for each account.
Internal Knowledge and Project Management
Using services such as Notion, Asana, and Monday, your assistant can:
Search internal information
Create and update records
Generate summaries
Organize project information
Track work across teams
Example:
Create a summary of our active projects and their current status.
Infrastructure and Operations
Using services such as AWS, your assistant can work with available infrastructure and operational information.
Example:
Review recent infrastructure alerts and summarize anything that needs attention.
Payroll and HR
Using services such as Gusto, your assistant can work with available payroll and employee information based on the permissions you've granted.
Example:
Summarize upcoming payroll dates and outstanding HR tasks.
Google Maps
Google Maps is automatically available to OpenAssistant assistants.
Your assistant can use Google Maps to:
Calculate travel times
Find meeting locations
Estimate commute durations
Suggest nearby venues
Help plan in-person meetings
Example:
Find a coffee shop halfway between me and Sarah for next week's meeting.
MCP Integrations
In addition to built-in integrations, OpenAssistant supports connections through MCP (Model Context Protocol).
MCP allows OpenAssistant to work with additional tools, services, and internal systems beyond the integrations available by default.
This gives you another way to extend what your assistant can access and do as the MCP ecosystem grows.
Connecting a Service
To add an integration:
Go to Connections in OpenAssistant.
Find the service you want to connect.
Select the account you want your assistant to use.
Review the permissions requested by the service.
Complete the authorization process.
Try a task using the new connection.
For a new connection, it can be helpful to start with a simple request before using it in a more complex task or recurring workflow.
For example:
Check my connected work calendar and tell me what events I have tomorrow. Don't create or change anything.
Managing Connections
You can manage your connected services from the Connections page.
If you use multiple accounts with the same provider, make sure you've connected the account you actually want your assistant to use.
Before disconnecting a service, consider whether any active tasks or recurring workflows depend on it. Future work that requires the disconnected service may not be able to complete until the connection is restored or an alternative is configured.
Integration Availability
We're constantly adding and improving OpenAssistant integrations. Some integrations are currently in Beta and may not yet support every possible workflow or use case. Capabilities can also vary between integrations.
The best way to understand what a connection can do is to try it. Start with a simple task, review the result, and expand into more complex workflows as needed. The Connections page in OpenAssistant is the best place to see which integrations are currently available to your account.
Troubleshooting
My assistant can't access a connected service
Confirm that the correct service is connected.
If you have multiple accounts, make sure the correct account was selected.
Check that the required permissions were granted.
Reconnect the service if authorization has expired or the wrong account was connected.
Try a simple request to confirm the connection is working.
My assistant is using the wrong calendar
Review your calendar settings to confirm which calendars should be checked for conflicts and which calendar should receive new events.
Zoom is connected but Zoom links aren't being added
Make sure Zoom is selected as your preferred video conferencing option in your calendar settings.
A workflow stopped working after I disconnected something
Check whether the task or workflow depends on the service you disconnected. Reconnect the service or update the workflow to use another available connection.
An integration isn't working as expected
Try a smaller, more specific request first.
If the issue continues, contact OpenAssistant support and include the connection involved, what you asked the assistant to do, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and any relevant screenshots.
